How To

Confirming a recipient's mobile number

The one extra step for a brand-new recipient's very first delivery.

The first time your organization sends an attachment to someone new, that delivery doesn't go out right away — it's held on your Pending Deliveries page until you complete this one extra step. See member verification, explained for how this fits alongside the other things in this app also called "verification."

Why this step exists

Once a recipient has registered their passkey, every attachment to them is protected by that device check alone. The one gap that check can't close on its own is the very first message to someone new — at that moment, the only thing proving it's really them is a link that arrived by email, which isn't much use if their inbox is the thing that's compromised. This step closes that gap by adding a real person — you — into the loop.

What to do

  1. Open your Pending Deliveries page and find the held attachment.
  2. Enter the recipient's mobile number.
  3. Check the box confirming it's really them — this is you personally vouching for that number, independent of anything email-based.

Once confirmed, the recipient is sent an SMS-verified one-time code to that number before anything unlocks — see what happens after you confirm for their side of it. You don't need to do anything else after this step; delivery continues automatically once they've completed theirs.

This is a one-time step per recipient, not per attachment. Once someone has been verified this way — by anyone in your organization — every attachment sent to them afterward, by anyone, arrives instantly with no repeated checks.
