- Go to Menu → Accounts, and select the account you want to send protected attachments from.
- Open the Outgoing Server (SMTP) section.
- Enter the gateway's inbound server settings as the SMTP Server and Port.
- Under Security policy, choose Force usage of SSL/TLS for port 465, or Use SSL/TLS if available with STARTTLS for port 587.
- Enter your account email as the Username, and use the same password you sign into your mailbox with.
- Click Save, then use the Test Account Settings button to confirm the connection works before sending anything for real.
eM Client tests outgoing settings independently from incoming ones — a successful
test here confirms only that mail can be sent through the gateway, not that
incoming mail (which isn't affected by this change) is configured correctly.
